The NCN5151MNTWG from On Semiconductor is a versatile single-chip transceiver designed for two-wire Meter Bus (M-BUS) slave devices and repeaters. It complies with European standards EN 13757-2 and EN 1434-3, providing essential functions for M-BUS physical layer requirements.

This transceiver features two low-power modes: a 2-wire mode for powerless meters and a 3-wire mode for wireless applications. When in M-BUS mode, it offers an adjustable constant current sink up to 6 unit loads, with a minimum current budget of 0.88 mA for external circuits. In low power mode, the current limit is adjustable up to 2 unit loads.

Key electrical features include an integrated 3.3V LDO regulator with extended peak current capability, polarity independence, and low turn-ON/OFF levels for low bus voltage operation. It supports UART communication speeds up to 38400 baud and includes a power-fail function. The device operates within an industrial ambient temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.

The NCN5151MNTWG is supplied in a compact 20-VFQFN exposed pad package, suitable for surface mounting. Its design facilitates powering slave devices directly from the bus, making it ideal for multi-energy utility meters such as water, gas, electricity, and heating systems.
