The NCN5120MNTWG from On Semiconductor is a transceiver integrated circuit specifically designed for use in KNX twisted pair networks (KNX TP1-256). This device facilitates the connection of actuators, sensors, microcontrollers, and other components within a building network.

Key features include a 9600 baud KNX communication speed, supervision of the KNX bus voltage, and support for bus current consumption up to 13 and 26 mA. It offers selectable KNX bus current settings of 0.5 mA/ms and 1.0 mA/ms. The transceiver incorporates high-efficiency DC-DC converters providing a fixed 3.3V output and a selectable 3.3V to 21V output. It also includes a linear 20V regulator and is prepared for sleep mode functionality.

Designed for flexibility, the NCN5120MNTWG provides selectable UART or SPI interfaces to the host controller, with selectable baud rates. Optional features include CRC on UART to the host and direct coupling of RxD and TxD to the host in analog mode. The device operates with a standard 16 MHz quartz crystal and can generate clocks of 8 or 16 MHz for external devices. It also features temperature monitoring and operates within an industrial temperature range of -25°C to +85°C.
