The NCL30488 is a highly integrated power factor corrected flyback controller designed for isolated constant current LED drivers. It operates in a quasi-resonant mode to achieve high efficiency and utilizes a novel control method for precise constant LED current regulation from the primary side, eliminating the need for secondary side feedback circuitry and optocouplers.
Key features include digital power factor correction, cycle-by-cycle peak current limiting, and accurate CC/CV control for input voltages up to 320 Vrms. The device boasts tight LED constant current regulation of ±2% typical. It operates over a wide VCC range and a temperature range of -40°C to +125°C.
A robust suite of protection features is built-in to simplify design, including brown-out protection, OVP on VCC, constant voltage/LED open circuit protection, winding short circuit protection, secondary diode short protection, output short circuit protection, thermal shutdown, and line overvoltage protection.
This LED driver is suitable for applications such as integral LED bulbs, LED power driver supplies, and LED light engines. It is available in a 7-SOIC package and is surface mountable.
