The Maxlinear MxL603 is a highly integrated, low-power silicon tuner IC designed for global digital cable and terrestrial standards. It is fully compliant with specifications for DVB-T, DVB-T2, ATSC A/74:2010, ATSC 3.0, ISDB-T, SBTVD-T, DTMB, and cable reception (DOCSIS 2.0/3.0, J.83 Annex A/B/C).
This tuner IC supports an input tuning range from 44 MHz to 1002 MHz, with programmable channel bandwidths of 1.7 MHz, 5 MHz, 6 MHz, 7 MHz, and 8 MHz. It features integrated channel filtering, eliminating the need for an external SAW filter. The device operates with a dual supply of 3.3V and 1.8V, consuming approximately 403 mW for digital terrestrial applications. An on-chip voltage regulator allows for single 3.3V supply operation.
The MxL603 simplifies board-level design with integrated AGC, LO generation, channel selection, and Loop-Through (LT) output functions. All functions are controllable via an I2C interface. It offers excellent immunity to LTE and WiFi interference, providing significant margin above industry requirements. The device is available in a compact 4 mm x 4 mm x 0.85 mm 24-pin QFN package.
Applications include digital terrestrial receivers such as STBs and PVRs, and digital cable applications like STBs, cable modems, EMTAs, and cable DTAs.
