The MaxLinear MXL261 is a monolithic, dual wideband tuner and quad demodulator receiver IC specifically designed for DOCSIS and EuroDOCSIS cable modem designs. This highly-integrated frontend SoC operates across a frequency range of 44MHz to 1002MHz, with each of its two wideband tuners capable of capturing independent 96MHz frequency bands.
The MxL261 integrates essential components including a broadband input filter, channel filter, AGC, LO generation, and PLL onto a single chip. It supports four QAM demodulators and provides a four-channel wide IF output. This integration enables simpler, more compact board designs and reduces Bill of Materials (BOM) costs.
With an ultra-low power consumption of less than 175mW per channel in full eight-channel mode, the MxL261 is suitable for energy-efficient applications. It operates with multiple supply voltages (3.3V, 1.8V, and 1.2V) and is controlled via a convenient I2C interface. The IC is housed in a 7mm x 7mm, 48-pin QFN package.
This component is based on MaxLinear's low-power digital CMOS process technology, offering a global standards solution for broadband communication. Its design facilitates compliance with energy efficiency standards.
The MXL261 requires three supply voltages: 3.3V, 1.8V, and 1.2V.
