The MUR820 is an ultra fast rectifier diode from Taiwan Semiconductor, designed for high-efficiency power conversion applications. It has a repetitive peak reverse voltage rating of 200V and an average rectified current rating of 8A. The device features a low forward voltage drop of 975mV at 8A, which helps minimize conduction losses.
The diode offers a fast reverse recovery time of 25ns, making it suitable for high-frequency switching circuits such as DC-DC converters and switching mode power supplies. It also has a high surge current capability of 100A, ensuring robustness during transient conditions.
The MUR820 is housed in a standard TO-220AC through-hole package, which provides excellent thermal performance. The junction-to-case thermal resistance is typically 3°C/W, and the device can operate over a junction temperature range of -55°C to 175°C. The package is RoHS compliant and halogen-free, meeting environmental standards.
Typical applications include freewheeling diodes in inductive loads, output rectification in power supplies, and reverse polarity protection. The device is AEC-Q101 qualified, making it suitable for automotive applications.
