MP8774GQ

The MP8774GQ from Monolithic Power Systems is a fully integrated, high-frequency, synchronous, rectified, step-down, switch-mode converter. It is designed to provide 12A of continuous output current with excellent load and line regulation across a wide input voltage range of 3V to 18V.

This converter utilizes synchronous mode operation for enhanced efficiency and Constant-On-Time (COT) control for fast transient response and tight output regulation. Key electrical features include an adjustable output voltage starting from 0.6V, low RDS(ON) internal power MOSFETs (16mΩ/5.5mΩ), and a low quiescent current of 100 μA. The fixed switching frequency is set at 700kHz.

Protection features are integrated, including short-circuit protection (SCP), over-current protection (OCP) with hiccup mode, under-voltage protection (UVP), and thermal shutdown. The MP8774GQ supports pre-biased start-up and external programmable soft-start time. It also includes Enable (EN) and Power Good (PG) signals for power sequencing.

The device is housed in a compact QFN-16 (3mmx3mm) package, requiring minimal external components. Applications include security cameras, portable devices, digital set-top boxes, flat-panel televisions and monitors, and general-purpose power management.
