The Monolithic Power Systems MP2891GQN-0010-Z is a dual-output digital multi-phase controller designed to power PWM-VID core supplies and is compatible with the AVSBus interface. This controller can be paired with MPS's Intelli-Phase products to create a complete multi-phase voltage regulator (VR) solution with minimal external components.
The MP2891 supports flexible configurations, with rail 1 capable of up to 16-phase operation and rail 2 up to 8-phase operation. It features on-chip non-volatile memory (NVM) for storing and retrieving device configuration data. Configuration and monitoring of fault parameters are easily managed via the PMBus/I2C interface. The device can also monitor and report output current (I OUT ) through the current sampling output of Intelli-Phase devices.
Utilizing a unique digital multi-phase nonlinear control architecture, the MP2891 achieves fast transient response with minimal output capacitance. The same power loop control method is applied to both steady-state and load transients, simplifying power loop compensation configuration. The MP2891 is available in a QFN-56 (7mmx7mm) package.
