The MP2224GJ-Z from Monolithic Power Systems is a synchronous, rectified, step-down, switch-mode converter designed for high efficiency and compact solutions. It can deliver up to 4A of output current with excellent load and line regulation across a wide input supply range of 4.5V to 18V.
This device features internal power MOSFETs with low RDS(ON) of 70mΩ/25mΩ, enabling high efficiency up to 97%. It operates at a fixed 500kHz switching frequency and supports synchronization with an external clock from 200kHz to 2MHz. The output voltage is adjustable as low as 0.6V, and it includes a 2.4ms internal soft-start time and 1% reference accuracy at room temperature.
Protection features include over-current protection with hiccup mode and thermal shutdown. The MP2224GJ-Z is available in a space-saving 8-pin TSOT23 package, suitable for surface mount applications. Its design requires minimal external components, making it ideal for applications such as flat-panel televisions and monitors, notebook systems, and distributed power systems.
