The MM74C164N is an 8-bit serial-in, parallel-out shift register manufactured by ON Semiconductor. This monolithic complementary MOS (CMOS) integrated circuit is constructed with N- and P-channel enhancement transistors. It features gated serial inputs and a clear function, with each register bit being a D-type master/slave flip-flop.
Data is serially shifted in and out of the 8-bit register during the positive-going transition of the clock pulse. The clear function is independent of the clock and is accomplished by a low level at the clear input. All inputs are protected against electrostatic effects.
Key electrical specifications include a supply voltage range of 3V to 15V, a typical low power consumption of 50 nW, and a typical medium speed operation of 0.8 MHz with a 10V supply. It offers high noise immunity with a typical value of 0.45 VCC and is tenth power TTL compatible, capable of driving 2 LPTTL loads.
The MM74C164N is available in a 14-DIP (0.300", 7.62mm) through-hole package. Its operating temperature range is -40°C to 85°C.
