The Texas Instruments MM5452N/NOPB is a CMOS metal gate, low threshold enhancement mode integrated circuit designed for Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) driving applications. It is available in a 40-pin PDIP package and can drive up to 32 segments of an LCD, with the capability to be paralleled for increased segment count. This device is suitable for driving a 4½-digit 7-segment display with minimal interface.
Key electrical specifications include a wide power supply operation range from 3V to 10V and an operating temperature range of -40°C to 85°C. The MM5452N/NOPB features a serial data input and can drive alphanumeric and bar graph displays. It stores display data in latches after it is clocked in, holding the data until new information is received.
Applications for this display driver include COPS™ or Microprocessor Displays, Industrial Control Indicators, Digital Clocks, Thermometers, Counters, Voltmeters, Instrumentation Readouts, and Remote Displays. The device requires through-hole mounting and is packaged in a 40-DIP format.
These devices have limited built-in ESD protection. Leads should be shorted together or the device placed in conductive foam during storage or handling to prevent electrostatic damage to the MOS gates.
