The Melexis MLX90316KGO-BCG-000-SP is an absolute rotary position sensor IC utilizing Hall Effect technology. It is designed to measure the angular position of an external magnet over a full 360-degree range.
Key features include a programmable angular range and transfer characteristic, selectable analog (ratiometric), PWM, or serial protocol outputs, and 12-bit angular resolution with 10-bit angular thermal accuracy. The device operates within a voltage range of 4.5V to 5.5V and has an operating temperature range of -40°C to 125°C.
This sensor IC is suitable for applications requiring non-contacting rotary position sensing, such as steering wheel position, pedal position, and motor-shaft position sensing. It is available in a 16-TSSOP surface mount package with Gull Wing termination.
The MLX90316 is built on a simple and robust magnetic design, offering impressive robustness over mechanical tolerances like airgap and off-axis variations. Its on-chip DSP processes the magnetic flux density to report the absolute angular position.
