The ON Semiconductor MKP1V160 is a high voltage bidirectional trigger, also known as a Sidac. It is designed for direct interface with the AC power line. Upon reaching its breakover voltage in either direction, the device switches from a blocking state to a low voltage on-state, continuing conduction like a Triac until the main terminal current drops below the holding current.
Key electrical specifications include a typical breakover voltage of 160V and an on-state RMS current of 0.9A (for the MKP1V120 series, with the MKP1V160 having a typical current of 100mA). The repetitive peak off-state current is a maximum of 5.0 µA at 25°C. The operating junction temperature range is -40°C to 125°C, and the storage temperature range is -40°C to 150°C.
This device features a plastic axial lead package (DO-204AL, DO-41) which provides high pulse current capability. Glass passivation ensures reliable operation. The MKP1V160 is Pb-Free compliant. Applications include high pressure sodium vapor lighting, strobes, flashers, ignitors, and high voltage regulators.
Thermal characteristics include a junction-to-lead thermal resistance of 40°C/W and a maximum lead solder temperature of 260°C.
