The Renesas MK712S is an integrated circuit designed to interface with 4-wire analog resistive touch screens. It provides all necessary screen drive, Analog-to-Digital (A/D) conversion, and control circuits.
The device features a 12-bit A/D converter with a programmable conversion rate up to 197 points per second. It supports both 3.3V and 5V supply voltages and consumes a low standby current of 0.5µA typical. The active current during conversion is less than 10 mA.
Packaged in a 28-pin SOIC, the MK712S is suitable for surface mount applications. It offers industrial temperature range operation from -30°C to +70°C. Capacitors are the only external components required, simplifying design and reducing component count.
This controller simplifies software development for touch screen applications by directly driving the screen without external transistors and offering ratio-metric conversion that may eliminate the need for screen calibration.
