MK2058-01SI

The Renesas MK2058-01SI is a voltage-controlled crystal oscillator (VCXO) based clock jitter attenuator. It is designed for system clock distribution applications and can replace more costly hybrid VCXO modules. This monolithic IC accepts and outputs clock frequencies in selectable ranges from 4 kHz to 27 MHz, featuring a dual input multiplexer.

By utilizing a phase-locked loop (PLL) to control the VCXO frequency, the output clock is phase and frequency locked to the selected input reference clock. External loop filter components allow tailoring of the PLL loop bandwidth and damping factor to meet specific system clock requirements, with loop bandwidths down to the Hz range being possible. The device offers excellent jitter attenuation for telecom clocks and also serves as a general-purpose jitter attenuator for distributed system clocks, recovered data, or video clocks.

Key features include a 2:1 input multiplexer, no switching glitches on the output, and very low jitter and phase noise generation due to its VCXO-based clock generation. It maintains a fixed input-to-output phase relationship and offers a minimum crystal frequency pullability range of +115ppm. The MK2058-01SI operates within an industrial temperature range and utilizes low-power CMOS technology.

This component is supplied in a 20-pin SOIC package with surface mount mounting type. It requires a single 3.3V power supply and is available in a Pb-free package.
