The MIC5270BM5 is a µCap negative low-dropout regulator designed by Micrel Inc. capable of sinking 100mA of output current. It features a very low dropout voltage, with a maximum of 600mV at 100mA, and a typical dropout of 500mV at the same current.
This regulator provides a highly accurate supply voltage with better than 2% initial accuracy. It is optimized for use with low-value ceramic capacitors, typically requiring only 1µF for stability. The MIC5270 is available in fixed output voltages of -3.0V, -4.1V, and -5.0V, as well as an adjustable output version.
Designed for applications where space and efficiency are critical, the MIC5270 is housed in an IttyBitty® SOT-23-5 package. Its low ground current of 35µA at 100µA load helps improve battery life in portable devices. The regulator also includes thermal shutdown and current limiting features for protection.
Key applications include GaAsFET bias, portable cameras and video recorders, PDAs, and other battery-powered equipment requiring a stable negative voltage rail.
