The MIC5018 IttyBitty™ high-side MOSFET driver from Micrel Inc. is engineered to switch N-channel enhancement-type MOSFETs using a TTL-compatible control signal. This device is suitable for both high-side and low-side switch applications.
It operates from a supply voltage range of +2.7V to +9V and boasts extremely low off-state supply current, with a typical standby current of less than 1µA. An internal charge pump elevates the gate output voltage above the driver supply, ensuring the MOSFET remains fully enhanced. For protection, an internal zener diode limits the gate-to-source voltage.
The MIC5018 is housed in a compact 4-lead SOT-143 package, making it ideal for space-constrained designs. It is rated for an ambient temperature range of –40°C to +85°C, suitable for various environmental conditions.
Key features include TTL-compatible input, charge pump for low-voltage applications, and internal zener diode protection. This driver is well-suited for applications requiring battery conservation, power bus switching, solenoid control, and lamp control.
