The Micrel MIC4744YML-TR is a high-efficiency, dual 2A PWM buck (step-down) regulator designed for demanding applications. It operates at a 4MHz switching frequency, enabling the use of ultra-small external components like 0.47µH inductors and 10µF capacitors. The device accepts an input voltage range of 2.9V to 5.5V and allows the output voltage to be adjusted down to 0.6V.
With integrated 2A P-Channel MOSFET switches, the MIC4744YML-TR achieves efficiencies greater than 90% and offers an ultra-fast transient response. It supports a maximum duty cycle of 100% for low-dropout conditions. The regulator includes micro-power shutdown, thermal shutdown, and current limit protection for robust operation.
Available in a 16-pin 3mm x 3mm MLF® package, this buck regulator is suitable for surface mounting. Its junction operating temperature ranges from -40°C to +125°C, making it a reliable choice for various electronic systems.
Applications include broadband devices like xDSL modems, automotive satellite radios, HD STBs, DVD/TV recorders, computer peripherals such as printers and graphic cards, and FPGA/ASIC power solutions.
