The MIC3289-24YD6-TR from Microchip Technology is a PWM boost-switching regulator designed for constant-current white LED driver applications. This device features an internal Schottky diode, enabling an efficient DC/DC solution that requires only four external components. It operates at a constant frequency of 1.2MHz, which helps reduce external component sizes and minimizes switching noise.
The regulator supports a single-wire digital interface for 16-step logarithmic dimming control, offering better resolution at lower currents. It also includes a pre-programming feature to select one of 16 WLED current levels as the start-up brightness. The feedback voltage is a low 250mV, ensuring high efficiency and accuracy for the white LED current.
With an input voltage range of 2.5V to 6.5V, the MIC3289-24YD6-TR can operate directly from single-cell Li-Ion or 3- to 4-cell NiCad/NiMH/Alkaline batteries.
