The MIC3287-24YML-TR from Microchip Technology is a 1.2MHz pulse width modulated (PWM) step-up switching regulator designed for constant current white LED driving applications. With a switch current of over 350mA, it can drive a string of LEDs in series, ensuring uniform brightness and eliminating the need for multiple ballast resistors.
This device operates with a constant frequency 1.2MHz PWM current-mode control scheme, which reduces external component sizes and minimizes noise and input ripple. The feedback voltage is set to 250mV for optimal efficiency. An optional 24V over-voltage protection (OVP) is available, and the output voltage can reach up to 36V without OVP.
The MIC3287-24YML-TR is available in a low-profile 8-pin 2mm x 2mm MLF® package. It operates within a junction temperature range of -40°C to +125°C and features over-temperature protection and under-voltage lockout (UVLO).
Applications include white LED backlighting for cell phones, PDAs, GPS systems, digital cameras, MP3 players, and IP phones, as well as LED flashlights and constant current power supplies.
