MIC3003GFL

The MIC3003GFL from Microchip Technology is a sophisticated fiber optic module controller integrated into a compact 3mm x 3mm MLF® package. This IC is designed for hot-pluggable fiber optic transceivers, offering intelligent laser control and an internally calibrated Digital Diagnostic Monitoring Interface compliant with SFF-8472. It integrates essential non-data path functions, making it suitable for SFP/SFP+ transceivers and as a microcontroller peripheral for transponders or 10Gbps transceivers.

The device features a highly configurable automatic power control (APC) circuit for laser bias, with temperature compensation provided by dual DACs, an on-chip temperature sensor, and NVRAM look-up tables. It supports a wide dynamic range for APC and controlled laser turn-on. An integrated analog-to-digital converter measures temperature, voltage, bias current, transmit power, and received power. The MIC3003GFL operates within a voltage range of 3V to 3.6V and consumes approximately 2.3 mA of current. It supports a single channel and data rates up to 10Gbps.

With an extended operating temperature range of -40°C to 105°C, this controller is built for demanding environments. It is supplied in a 24-pin MLF® package, suitable for surface mounting. Additional features include alarm and warning masks, the capability to support multiple devices on one SMBus, and a power-on hour meter. The MIC3003GFL is an ideal solution for implementing advanced fiber optic communication modules requiring precise laser control and monitoring.
