MIC3001GML-TR

The MIC3001GML-TR is a sophisticated FOM (Figure of Merit) Management IC from Microchip Technology, enabling the implementation of hot-pluggable fiber optic transceivers. It integrates non-data path functions into a compact 4mm x 4mm QFN package, specifically a 24-MLF® (4x4) or 24-VFQFN Exposed Pad.

This transceiver supports SDH Sonet protocols and operates over a voltage range of 3V to 3.6V, with an operating temperature range of -40°C to 105°C. It features an internally calibrated digital diagnostic monitoring interface per SFF-8472, controlling laser bias with a highly-configurable automatic power control (APC) circuit. Bias and modulation are temperature compensated using dual DACs, an on-chip temperature sensor, and NVRAM look-up tables.

Key functionalities include an analog-to-digital converter for monitoring temperature, voltage, bias current, transmit power, and received power. It also includes an EEPOT for RX power adjustment, user-programmable warning and alarm thresholds, and an interrupt output. The device supports controlled laser turn-on for hot plugging and logs operating hours via an internal real-time clock stored in NVRAM. Communication is via a 2-wire serial interface, with nonvolatile memory for serial ID, configuration, and scratchpad spaces, protected by two-level password security.

Designed for surface mount, the MIC3001GML-TR is suitable for applications requiring intelligent laser control and comprehensive diagnostic monitoring in fiber optic transceivers.
