The MIC2821-4GMSYML-TR from Microchip Technology is a high-performance digital power management IC designed for applications requiring multiple voltage rails with high efficiency. It combines a single 600mA DC/DC converter with three 300mA LDOs, supporting up to four output voltage rails.
The DC/DC converter operates at 2MHz, enabling the use of small inductors and capacitors to reduce board space and cost, while achieving efficiencies up to 86% at 600mA load. LDOs 1 and 2 can operate from an input voltage as low as 1.65V, suitable for post-regulation. LDO 3 has a separate enable pin. All outputs feature ±2% voltage accuracy, thermal shutdown protection, and current limit protection.
This IC is housed in a compact 16-pin 3mm x 3mm MLF® leadless package, making it ideal for space-constrained designs. The µCap design allows for stable operation with small ceramic output capacitors and inductors.
Applications include mobile phones, PDAs, portable media players, and mobile television receivers. The operating temperature range is -40°C to 125°C, with an input voltage range of 2.7V to 5.5V for the DC/DC converter and LDO 3, and 1.65V to 5.5V for LDOs 1 & 2.
