The Micrel MIC23050-SYML-TR is a high-efficiency, 600mA PWM synchronous buck (step-down) regulator. It utilizes the HyperLight Load™ patented switching scheme, offering excellent light load efficiency and transient performance with small external components and low output ripple. The device draws a very low quiescent current of 20µA and can achieve over 89% efficiency even at 1mA.
This regulator operates with a tiny inductor ranging from 0.47µH to 2.2µH and uses a small output capacitor, enabling a sub-1mm height. At higher loads, it provides a constant switching frequency greater than 4MHz, with peak efficiencies exceeding 93%. The MIC23050-SYML-TR comes in fixed output voltage options, including 3.3V, eliminating the need for external feedback components.
It is available in an 8-pin 2mm x 2mm MLF® package, suitable for surface mounting. The junction operating range is from –40°C to +125°C, making it robust for various environmental conditions. Applications include cellular phones, digital cameras, portable media players, and wireless LAN cards.
