The Micrel MIC2225 is a dual output regulator that integrates a high-efficiency 2MHz PWM synchronous buck (step-down) regulator with a 300mA LDO. This device is an ultra-low noise, small-size, and high-efficiency solution suitable for portable power applications, providing core and I/O supply rails for devices such as application processors, camera DSPs, and multimedia chipsets.
In PWM mode, the MIC2225 operates at a constant 2MHz frequency. The switching regulator functions with an input voltage range of 2.7V to 5.5V and includes internal power MOSFETs capable of supplying up to 600mA output current. The LDO offers up to 300mA output current. The device is available in a 10-pin 2mm x 2mm Thin MLF® package, with a junction operating range from –40°C to +125°C.
Key features include >95% efficiency, an output current up to 600mA for the buck regulator, and an output voltage option down to 1V for the buck and 0.8V for the LDO. It also provides thermal shutdown and current limit protection. The MIC2225 is designed for applications like cellular phones, PDAs, and USB peripherals.
