The Micrel MIC2225 is a dual output regulator designed for portable power applications. It integrates a high-efficiency 2MHz PWM synchronous buck (step-down) regulator capable of supplying up to 600mA output current, and a 300mA LDO. This combination provides core and I/O supply rails suitable for application processors, camera DSPs, and multimedia chipsets.
The switching regulator operates with a constant 2MHz frequency and features internal power MOSFETs. It supports input voltages from 2.7V to 5.5V and offers fixed output voltage options down to 1V. The LDO provides an output voltage down to 0.8V. Both regulators include thermal shutdown and current limit protection.
The MIC2225 is housed in a compact 10-pin 2mm x 2mm Thin MLF® package, making it ideal for space-constrained designs. The junction operating temperature range is from -40°C to +125°C, ensuring reliable performance in various environments. The device is Pb-free and Halogen Free.
This regulator is well-suited for applications such as cellular phones, PDAs, and USB peripherals where low noise, small size, and high efficiency are critical.
