The Bourns MF-R040 is a polymeric positive temperature coefficient (PTC) resettable fuse designed for overcurrent protection in electronic circuits. It offers a hold current of 0.40 A and a trip current of 0.80 A, with a maximum voltage rating of 60 V and a maximum interrupt current of 40 A. The device has a low initial resistance ranging from 0.52 Ω to 0.86 Ω at 23 °C, and a post-trip resistance maximum of 1.29 Ω. Time to trip at 2.0 A is 3.8 seconds, with typical tripped power dissipation of 0.55 W.
This resettable fuse is suitable for a wide range of applications including power supplies, battery charging circuits, motor protection, and general electronics where automatic recovery after fault clearance is desired. The polymeric PTC material provides reliable overcurrent protection with fast response and low standby power dissipation.
The MF-R040 is housed in a radial leaded disc package with a lead spacing of 5.10 mm and dimensions of 7.40 mm diameter by 3.10 mm thickness. It is designed for through-hole mounting and operates over a temperature range of -40 °C to 85 °C. The device is RoHS compliant, lead free, halogen free, and carries cUL and TÜV agency approvals.
