MCZ33298EGR2

The MCZ33298EGR2 from NXP Semiconductors is a versatile, smart eight-output low-side power switch. It incorporates an 8-bit serial-in shift register to control an 8-bit parallel output latch, enabling independent ON/OFF control for eight outputs. This device is suitable for applications involving solenoids, relays, lamps, and small DC motors, handling moderate current loads up to 3A.

Designed to interface directly with microcontrollers, the MCZ33298EGR2 supports SPI communication up to 3.0MHz. It operates over a wide supply voltage range of 4.5V to 5.5V, with a typical RDS(ON) of 350mOhm at 25°C. The outputs are capable of sinking up to 3.0A of transient current. Continuous current handling is 0.5A per output when all outputs are simultaneously ON and the device is soldered onto a typical PC board. Higher continuous currents are possible depending on the number of outputs active.

Key features include robust fault protection mechanisms such as fixed current limiting, open load detection, over-temperature, and over-voltage protection.
