The Microchip Technology MCP9803T-M/MS is a digital temperature sensor designed for precise temperature monitoring. It converts temperatures between -55°C and +125°C to a digital word, offering an accuracy of ±1°C (maximum) from -10°C to +85°C.
This sensor operates within a voltage range of 2.7V to 5.5V and utilizes an industry-standard 2-wire I2C/SMBus compatible serial interface. Key features include user-selectable resolution from 9-bit to 12-bit, power-saving shutdown and one-shot modes, and programmable alert and hysteresis limits. The output signal can be configured as an active-low or active-high comparator or as a temperature event interrupt.
The MCP9803T-M/MS is housed in an 8-MSOP surface-mount package, making it suitable for various electronic applications. Its typical applications include personal computers, servers, hard disk drives, entertainment systems, office equipment, data communication equipment, mobile phones, and general-purpose temperature monitoring.
With a typical operating current of 200 µA and a shutdown current of only 1 µA, this sensor is an efficient choice for power-sensitive designs. The user-programmable registers provide flexibility for custom temperature sensing solutions.
