The Microchip Technology MCP2221T-I/ML is a composite USB device that bridges USB to I2C and UART communication protocols. It supports full-speed USB (12 Mb/s) and enumerates as a composite device using standard drivers for virtual COM port (VCP) on Windows operating systems.
This IC features an I2C master interface with clock rates up to 400 kHz, supporting 7-bit or 10-bit addressable devices and block reads/writes up to 65,535 bytes. The UART interface supports baud rates from 300 to 115200. It includes four general-purpose I/O pins, three ADC inputs, and one DAC output.
The MCP2221T-I/ML is designed for a wide operating voltage range of 3.0V to 5.5V and operates within an industrial temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. It is housed in a compact 16-QFN (4x4) package, suitable for various embedded applications requiring USB connectivity to I2C or UART peripherals.
