The MCP2036-I/P from Microchip Technology is an Inductive Sensor Analog Front End (AFE) device. It integrates all necessary analog functions for a complete inductance measurement system, including a low-impedance current driver, sensor/reference coil multiplexer, and a high-frequency detector.
This IC operates over a voltage range of 2.7V to 5.5V and features a low-power standby mode. The gain and frequency are set by external passive components. It is suitable for applications such as harsh environment inductive keyboards, inductive rotational sensor interfaces, inductive displacement sensor interfaces, and inductive force sensor interfaces.
The MCP2036-I/P is available in a 14-pin PDIP package, designed for through-hole mounting. Its typical applications leverage its ability to measure a sensor coil's impedance by exciting the coil with a pulsed DC current and measuring the resulting AC voltage waveform.
