The MCK12140D from ON Semiconductor is a Phase Frequency Detector engineered for phase-locked loop (PLL) applications requiring minimal phase and frequency difference at lock. This device is functionally compatible with the MC12040 and supports a maximum frequency of 800 MHz.
When the Reference (R) and VCO (V) inputs differ in frequency and/or phase, the differential UP (U) and DOWN (D) outputs generate pulse streams. These pulses, when subtracted and integrated, provide an error voltage for controlling a Voltage-Controlled Oscillator (VCO). The device features an 800 MHz typical bandwidth and internal input pulldown resistors.
Packaged in a small outline, surface mount 8-lead SOIC package, the MCK12140D is suitable for space-constrained designs. It operates within a temperature range of -40°C to 85°C. The device is also Pb-Free and Halogen Free, aligning with environmental compliance standards.
