The MC74HC164AD from ON Semiconductor is an 8-bit serial-input to parallel-output shift register. This high-performance silicon-gate CMOS device offers a wide operating voltage range from 2.0V to 6.0V and an operating temperature range of -55°C to 125°C.
Designed for serial data input and parallel data output, it features two serial data inputs, A1 and A2, allowing one to be used as a data enable. Data is entered on each rising edge of the clock, and an active-low asynchronous Reset input overrides the clock and serial data inputs. The device is capable of driving 10 LSTTL loads and its outputs directly interface with CMOS, NMOS, and TTL logic.
Packaged in a 14-SOIC (0.154", 3.90mm Width) format, the MC74HC164AD is designed for surface mount applications. Its high noise immunity is characteristic of CMOS devices, and it complies with JEDEC Standard No. 7A requirements. The chip complexity is 244 FETs or 61 equivalent gates.
