The MC74AC4040DG from On Semiconductor is a 12-stage binary ripple counter. This integrated circuit consists of 12 master-slave flip-flops, where the output of each flip-flop feeds the next, resulting in a frequency division at each subsequent output.
The counter advances its state on the negative-going edge of the clock input and features an asynchronous, active-high reset. It offers a typical clock frequency of 140 MHz and operates within a voltage range of 2.0 V to 6.0 V. The outputs can source or sink 24 mA, providing good drive capability.
Designed for surface mount applications, the MC74AC4040DG comes in a 16-SOIC package. Its high noise immunity makes it suitable for various digital logic applications. State changes of the Q outputs do not occur simultaneously due to internal ripple delays, which may require gating with the clock signal for certain designs.
This device is Pb-Free and meets RoHS3 compliance standards. It is supplied in a 16-SOIC (0.154", 3.90mm Width) package, with options for tube or tape and reel packaging.
