The MC33560DTBR2G from On Semiconductor is a versatile interface IC tailored for smartcard reader and writer applications. It facilitates the management of various smart or memory cards through a flexible microcontroller interface. This IC is particularly well-suited for low-power and portable devices due to its power-saving features and minimal external component requirements.

The device supports a wide battery supply voltage range from 1.8 V to 6.6 V and offers programmable VCC supply for 3.0 V or 5.0 V card operation. It boasts very low quiescent current in standby mode (30 µA max) and includes a self-contained DC-DC converter for generating VCC. The MC33560DTBR2G ensures high signal integrity with controlled power-up/down sequences and features a programmable card clock generator. It also provides chip select capability for parallel coupler operation.

Designed for reliability, the MC33560DTBR2G includes sophisticated protection systems for timely shutdown upon error conditions, monitoring for VBATlow, VCClow, and ICClim.
