MC33290DR2

The MC33290DR2 from NXP Semiconductors is a serial link bus interface device designed for bi-directional, half-duplex communication in automotive diagnostic applications. It interfaces between a vehicle's microcontroller and off-board systems via the ISO K line, meeting the ISO9141 specification.

This device operates over a wide supply voltage range of 8.0V to 18V and is parametrically specified for an ambient temperature range of -40°C to 125°C. The K line bus driver output is protected against bus shorts and overtemperature conditions. Built on a SMARTMOS process, it incorporates CMOS logic, bipolar/MOS analog circuitry, and DMOS power FETs for robustness.

The MC33290DR2 is housed in an economical 8-SOIC surface-mount plastic package, making it cost-effective for integration. Its features include direct interfacing to standard CMOS microprocessors, thermal shutdown with hysteresis, and capability to drive up to 10 nF of parasitic capacitance on the ISO K line. It also offers 8.0 kV ESD protection with additional components and a standby mode with no Vbat current drain when VDD is at 5.0V.
