MC33035DWR2

The MC33035DWR2 from ON Semiconductor is a high-performance, second-generation monolithic brushless DC motor controller. It integrates all active functions required for full-featured open-loop, three or four-phase motor control systems. The device includes a rotor position decoder for commutation sequencing, a temperature-compensated reference, a frequency-programmable sawtooth oscillator, and three open-collector top drivers along with three high-current totem-pole bottom drivers suitable for driving power MOSFETs.

Key protective features include undervoltage lockout, cycle-by-cycle current limiting with selectable time-delayed latched shutdown, and internal thermal shutdown. A unique fault output is also provided for interfacing with microprocessor-controlled systems. Typical motor control functions such as open-loop speed, forward/reverse direction, run enable, and dynamic braking are supported. The MC33035 is designed for electrical sensor phasings of 60°/300° or 120°/240° and can also efficiently control brush DC motors with an external MOSFET H-bridge.

This controller operates within a voltage range of 10V to 30V and features a 6.25V reference capable of supplying sensor power. It is supplied in a 24-SOIC surface mount package with an operating temperature range of -40°C to 85°C (TA).
