MC33033DWG Description

Short technical summary and product information.

The ON Semiconductor MC33033DWG is a high-performance, second-generation monolithic brushless DC motor controller. It integrates all active functions required for open-loop, three or four-phase motor control. The device includes a rotor position decoder, a temperature-compensated reference capable of supplying sensor power, a frequency-programmable sawtooth oscillator, an error amplifier, a pulse width modulator comparator, and integrated drivers.

Key protective features include undervoltage lockout, cycle-by-cycle current limiting with a selectable time-delayed latched shutdown mode, and internal thermal shutdown. The MC33033 is designed to operate brushless motors with electrical sensor phasings of 60°/300° or 120°/240°, and can also efficiently control brush DC motors.

This controller is housed in a 20-SOIC package and is suitable for surface mount applications. It operates within a voltage range of 10V to 30V and has an operating temperature range of -40°C to 85°C (TA). The analog interface allows for flexible control.

Applications include general-purpose motor control where precise commutation and direction management are required. Its robust design makes it suitable for various automotive and industrial applications.
