MC14511BDR2G Description

Short technical summary and product information.

The MC14511BDR2G from onsemi is a versatile BCD-to-seven segment latch/decoder/driver. This integrated circuit is constructed with complementary MOS (CMOS) enhancement mode devices and NPN bipolar output drivers, all within a single monolithic structure. It integrates a 4-bit storage latch, an 8421 BCD-to-seven segment decoder, and robust output drive capabilities.

Designed for a wide range of display applications, the MC14511BDR2G can directly or indirectly drive seven-segment light-emitting diodes (LED), incandescent, fluorescent, gas discharge, or liquid crystal readouts. Key features include low logic circuit power dissipation, high-current sourcing outputs up to 25 mA, and a broad supply voltage range of 3.0 V to 18 V. It also incorporates lamp test, blanking, and latch enable inputs for display control and code storage. The device is housed in a 16-SOIC package and operates across a temperature range of -55°C to 125°C.

Applications for this display driver include instrument displays (e.g., counters, DVMs), computer/calculator displays, cockpit displays, and various clock, watch, and timer uses. It is capable of driving two low-power TTL loads, one low-power Schottky TTL load, or two HTL loads over its rated temperature range. The device also features triple diode protection on all inputs and is Pb-Free and RoHS Compliant.
