MC145026P

The MC145026P is an integrated circuit from NXP Semiconductors designed for use in remote control systems. This CMOS device functions as an encoder/decoder pair. The MC145026 encodes nine lines of information and transmits it serially upon receiving a transmit enable signal. It supports both trinary (low, high, open) and binary (low, high) data encoding, transmitting data twice per sequence for enhanced security.

The MC145027 and MC145028 are companion decoders. The MC145027 interprets five trinary digits as an address code, allowing for 243 possible addresses, and the remaining digits as four bits of binary data. The MC145028 treats all nine trinary digits as an address, enabling 19,683 possible codes. Both decoders feature a valid transmission (VT) output that indicates updated data.

This encoder/decoder IC operates over a voltage range of 2.5V to 18V. It features a very low standby current of 300 nA maximum for the encoder at 25°C. The device interfaces with RF, ultrasonic, or infrared modulators and demodulators and includes an RC oscillator, eliminating the need for an external crystal. It offers high external component tolerance, allowing the use of ±5% components. The MC145026P is packaged in a 16-PDIP through-hole configuration.
