The MBRD340T4 is a Schottky barrier rectifier designed for use as output rectifiers, freewheeling protection and steering diodes in switching power supplies, inverters and other inductive switching circuits. Key electrical specifications include a maximum DC blocking voltage of 40 V, average rectified forward current of 3 A at TC = +125°C, and a low forward voltage drop of 0.6 V maximum at 3 A and 25°C. The device features extremely fast switching and low forward drop, enabled by platinum barrier technology with avalanche guardrings.
Thermal characteristics include a junction-to-case thermal resistance of 6°C/W and junction-to-ambient of 80°C/W. The junction operating temperature range is -65°C to +150°C. The rectifier can handle nonrepetitive peak surge currents up to 75 A and peak repetitive forward current of 6 A at 20 kHz. The maximum voltage rate of change is 10000 V/µs.
The MBRD340T4 is supplied in a DPAK surface mount package (TO-252-3, DPak with 2 leads and tab), compatible with standard surface mount assembly processes. It is available on 16 mm tape and reel with 2500 units per reel (T4 suffix). The package is epoxy molded, corrosion resistant, and the leads are readily solderable with a maximum soldering temperature of 260°C for 10 seconds.
