The MAX882ESA-T from Analog Devices is a low-dropout linear voltage regulator designed to maximize battery life. It provides an output current capability of up to 200mA and operates with a wide input voltage range of 2.7V to 11.5V.
This regulator features Dual Mode™ operation, allowing for user-adjustable outputs from 1.25V to 11V using external resistors. It also includes preset output voltages of 3.3V for the MAX882/MAX884 and 5V for the MAX883. Key electrical characteristics include a typical quiescent current of 11µA and a low dropout voltage of 220mV at 200mA.
Protection features include foldback current limiting, reverse-current protection, and thermal-overload protection. The device also incorporates a low-battery detection comparator and an enable function. It is supplied in an 8-pin SOIC package suitable for surface mounting.
Applications for the MAX882ESA-T include pagers, cellular phones, battery-powered devices, portable instruments, and solar-powered instruments requiring 3.3V or 5V regulation or adjustable output.
