MAX8815AETB+T Description

Short technical summary and product information.

The MAX8815AETB+T is a synchronous step-up DC-DC converter designed for high efficiency and low quiescent current. It can generate output voltages from 3.3V to 5V from a single-cell or two-cell battery input ranging from 1.2V to 5.5V.

This converter features two modes of operation: a normal mode with low quiescent current (30µA typical) that switches only when needed, and a fixed-frequency forced PWM mode for easier noise filtering and lower output ripple. It offers a preset 2.5A current limit, enabling a 500mA load at 1.8V input and a 1A load at 2.5V input when the output is set to 5V. The device includes soft-start for inrush current limiting, True Shutdown, and internal compensation.

With up to 97% efficiency and a 2MHz switching frequency, the MAX8815AETB+T is suitable for applications such as digital still cameras (DSC), digital video cameras (DVC), microprocessor/DSP core power, cell phones, PDAs, MP3 players, portable handheld devices, and PCMCIA cards.

The MAX8815AETB+T is available in a compact 10-pin, 3mm x 3mm TDFN package with an exposed pad, designed for surface mounting.
