The MAX8784ETL+ is an integrated circuit from Analog Devices designed to generate supply rails for thin-film transistor (TFT) liquid-crystal display (LCD) panels in TVs and monitors. It incorporates a high-frequency, high-efficiency step-up DC-DC regulator with a built-in 110mΩ power MOSFET, capable of operating from 4V to 5.5V input voltages. This regulator provides a regulated supply voltage for TFT source drivers and features fast transient response, output undervoltage protection, soft-start, and internal current limit.
In addition to the step-up regulator, the MAX8784ETL+ includes a regulated positive and a negative charge-pump for TFT gate drivers. The positive charge pump is a two-stage design requiring no external diodes, and both charge pump outputs are resistor adjustable. The device also features three high-current operational amplifiers, each with a fast slew rate of 45V/µs, a 20MHz bandwidth, and rail-to-rail input and output operation, suitable for driving the LCD backplane and gamma-correction divider string.
A logic-controlled high-voltage switch control block is included, with a Dual Mode™ feature that automatically increases output voltages for display panel stress testing during production (HVS mode). The MAX8784ETL+ is optimized for LCD TV panel and LCD monitor applications and is supplied in a compact 5mm x 5mm, 0.8mm low-profile 40-pin TQFN package, operating over a temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.
