The MAX8760ETL+T from Analog Devices is a dual-phase, Quick-PWM step-down controller specifically designed for 6-bit VID AMD Mobile Turion 64 CPU core power supplies. Its dual-phase operation effectively reduces input ripple current and output voltage ripple, simplifying component selection and layout.
The Quick-PWM control scheme ensures instantaneous response to rapid load current changes. This controller incorporates active voltage positioning with adjustable gain and offset, which helps reduce power dissipation and the need for bulk output capacitance. It supports a wide input voltage range of 4V to 28V and provides an adjustable output voltage range from 0.375V to 1.55V with ±0.75% accuracy over line, load, and temperature.
Designed for high efficiency, the MAX8760ETL+T can step down battery voltage directly for single-stage conversion or step down the 5V system supply for two-stage conversion at a higher switching frequency for smaller physical size. It complies with AMD's CPU specifications and includes features such as soft-start, power-up sequencing, soft-shutdown, undervoltage protection, and thermal protection. The device is available in a 40-pin 6mm x 6mm thin QFN package, suitable for surface mounting.
