The MAX8668ETET+ from Analog Devices (formerly Maxim Integrated) is a versatile dual step-down DC-DC converter integrated with dual low-dropout (LDO) linear regulators. Designed for low-voltage microprocessors and DSPs in portable applications, it provides high efficiency and a compact external component size.
The step-down converters offer adjustable output voltages from 0.6V to 3.3V for the MAX8668, with guaranteed output currents of 600mA for OUT1 and 1200mA for OUT2. The 1.5MHz hysteretic-PWM control scheme enables the use of small external components and reduces no-load operating current. The device also features dual low-quiescent-current, low-noise LDOs with a guaranteed 300mA output current and a minimum supply voltage of 1.7V.
Individual enable pins for each output maximize design flexibility. The MAX8668ETET+ is available in a space-saving, 3mm x 3mm, 16-pin thin QFN package, making it suitable for space-constrained portable devices such as cell phones, PDAs, portable media players, and digital cameras.
Key electrical characteristics include adjustable output voltage from 0.6V to 3.3V, high output current capabilities, and a 1.5MHz switching frequency. The device operates within an extended temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.
