The MAX8668ETEA+ from Analog Devices is a dual step-down DC-DC converter integrated with dual low-dropout (LDO) linear regulators, designed for powering low-voltage microprocessors and DSPs in portable devices. This component features high efficiency and a compact external component size.
The step-down converters provide adjustable output voltages from 0.6V to 3.3V, with guaranteed output currents of 600mA for OUT1 and 1200mA for OUT2. The device utilizes a 1.5MHz hysteretic-PWM control scheme, enabling the use of small external components and reducing no-load operating current. The integrated LDOs offer 300mA guaranteed output current and operate down to a 1.7V supply voltage, providing low quiescent current and low noise.
With individual enables for each output, the MAX8667/MAX8668 offers maximum flexibility in power management. The device operates from an input voltage range of 2.6V to 5.5V and is available in a space-saving, 3mm x 3mm, 16-pin thin QFN package. Its operating temperature range is -40°C to 85°C.
Applications for the MAX8668ETEA+ include cell phones, smartphones, PDAs, portable MP3 and DVD players, digital cameras, camcorders, PCMCIA cards, and handheld instruments.
