The MAX8545EUB+ is a voltage-mode pulse-width-modulated (PWM) step-down DC-DC controller designed for cost-sensitive applications. It features a wide input voltage range of 2.7V to 28V and can supply output voltages as low as 0.8V. This controller offers up to 95% efficiency and includes lossless short-circuit and current-limit protection by monitoring the Rds(on) of the low-side MOSFET.
The device operates at a switching frequency of 300kHz and is compatible with low-cost aluminum electrolytic capacitors. It includes input undervoltage lockout and internal soft-start to reduce inrush current. The MAX8545EUB+ is offered in a space-saving 10-pin µMAX package and is suitable for surface mount applications.
Key features include foldback short-circuit protection, no additional bias supply needed, and an all n-channel MOSFET design. Adaptive gate drivers eliminate shoot-through, and thermal shutdown is included for protection.
