The Analog Devices MAX8212CPA is a low-power CMOS voltage detector designed to warn microprocessors of power failures. It features a 1.15V bandgap reference and an open-drain output driver, with external resistors used to set the trip voltage. This device offers a supply voltage range of 2.0V to 16.5V and a quiescent current of just 5μA.
The MAX8212CPA provides ±40mV (±3.5%) threshold accuracy and a reset timeout of less than 1ms. It is suitable for applications such as μP voltage monitoring, undervoltage detection, and battery-backup switching. The component is available in an 8-PDIP package and is designed for through-hole mounting.
This voltage detector is an improved second source for the ICL8211/ICL8212 series, offering reduced supply current and a more tightly controlled bandgap reference. Its open-drain or open-collector output configuration provides flexibility in system design.
