The MAX765EPA is a highly efficient inverting switching regulator from Analog Devices / Maxim Integrated, part of the MAX764/MAX765/MAX766 family. It is designed to deliver up to 1.5W with a unique current-limited, pulse-frequency-modulated (PFM) control scheme that combines benefits of PFM and PWM converters.
This device operates over a wide input voltage range of 3V to 16V. The output voltage is preset at -12V for the MAX765, but can also be adjusted from -1V to -16V using external resistors. It features a high switching frequency of up to 300kHz, allowing for miniature external components. The MAX765EPA utilizes an internal P-channel power MOSFET, making it ideal for minimum component count applications.
Key features include a low supply current of 120µA maximum and a shutdown current of 5µA maximum. The device is suitable for applications such as LCD-bias generators, portable instruments, LAN adapters, remote data-acquisition systems, and other battery-powered devices.
The MAX765EPA is available in an 8-pin PDIP package and is designed for through-hole mounting. It operates within a temperature range of -40°C to 85°C.
